Heart of Jesus, Son of the Eternal Father
In this lesson, Annabelle Moseley, poet; author; and Professor of Theology, leads Day 1 of the 33-Day “Our House of the Sacred Heart” Consecration and discusses three ways to be a person “after God’s own heart,” using three examples from the life of King David. She teaches “The Lesson of the Dogwood” as a real-life example of answering God’s call. Beautiful prayers, devotions, art, stories, and scripture are included in this podcast that won’t take much of your time… but is time well-spent.
Reflection on Art
What trust in the Lord he has, what guts! The artist Elizabeth Jane Gardner Bouguereau painted an unforgettable depiction of this bravery in her masterpiece, The Shepherd David, showing the boy kneeling over the lion he conquered while clutching a lamb he saved, all the while gesturing heavenward to acknowledge that his strength came from God. May we metaphorically do the same.

Today when you pray the Our Father, contemplate on these words “Thy Will be done” as answering God’s call through obedience.

SACRED HEART OF JESUS, I COMMIT THIS DAY TO YOU
Merciful Heart of Jesus, today,
in return for Your great love for me,
I renew the covenant of love I made with You
on the day of my Baptism
and which You renew each time
You offer Yourself to the Father
in the Eucharist.
I consecrate myself, family
and all my undertakings
to Your loving Heart.
I offer to bring the message of love and mercy
that emanates from Your Sacred Heart
to all who will listen.
“Send forth Your Holy Spirit
and You shall renew the face of the earth!”
I ask this through
the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Your Mother.
